Alpha Gamma Omega History
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter was chartered on Saturday, October 1, 1927, by eleven members.
It was the first alumnae chapter west of the Rockies and the largest west of the Mississippi. Today there are over 200 active members in the chapter.

The Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter has the distinction of being the only chapter in Southern California to own a sorority house. The house, located in the Historic West Adams district of Los Angeles at 2615 Ellendale Place was purchased in 1960. The mortgage was paid in full in 1974. The house is maintained and operated by the Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter and is used for chapter meetings and various community activities.
From the time of its chartering in 1927, the Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter has been involved in solving community issues and participating in service activities. Some past and current projects include collaborations with the Los Angeles Job Corps, The Longest Day, United Negro College Fund (UNCF), reading projects in local schools, The Red Cross, joint chapter activities, Africare, Los Angeles Marathon, Southeast Symphony, and Midnight Mission.
